The work is part of a $2.2 million federally funded project to enhance safety and improve the operation of the signalized intersection of Route 40 and Main Road/CR 555 in Franklin Township, Gloucester County. Improvements include adding right turn ramps from Main Road/CR 555 to Route 40, as well as repaving and raising the intersection by nearly two feet. The traffic signals will be replaced; new concrete median islands will be installed; ADA-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks will be constructed; and upgrades will be made to drainage inlets. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2024.
