The bureau distributed educational pamphlets and a free water testing offer. A total of 19 eligible municipalities were identified as having a high percentage (greater than 10%) exceeding the 15 pCi/L standard for gross alpha radioactivity.
From June 12 – August 9, 2023, the bureau sampled water from 109 private well homes for gross alpha radioactivity.
The program is continuing, and residents are urged to visit the Private Well Outreach Project website to get more information and consider testing of their private wells.
