[ARCHIVED] 69 Acres of Farmland Preserved - Bringing the Total to 3,245 Acres

This farm, along with 5 other farms which the Agricultural Commission is doing its due diligence on for enrollment in the preservation process, will bring an additional 274 acres under preservation.  Should all 6 farms complete the process in 2023, a total of 343 acres will be added to Franklin Townships already preserved farmlands and open spaces.

Throughout various funding sources since the program inception, Franklin Township has preserved 60 farms with a total acreage of 3,245 acres.

Franklin Township additionally has over 2,012 acres of open space and preserved green acres land which are owned by Franklin Township, Gloucester County the State of New Jersey or Non- Profit organizations.

All of the above totals 5,600 acres, which equates to 8.75 square miles of preserved farmland and open space.  This is an area larger than the entire Clayton Borough which measures 7.26 square miles.

“This committee fully supports preserving farmland preservation and open spaces created through available funding and have never voted against such a proposal or opportunity”, stated Township Committee Member Tim Doyle.
