[ARCHIVED] Having Trouble Paying the Gas & Electric Bill Due to Covid-19?

ATLANTIC CITY ELECTRIC

Eligible customers can receive financial assistance through Helping Hands, a program funded by Atlantic City Electric, that provides $1 million annually to help struggling customers meet their energy needs. These funds are dispersed each year to eligible residents through the Affordable Housing Alliance, New Jersey SHARES, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Camden, and the People for People Foundation. In addition, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is still available through July 31. This program provides more than $1,000 in grant support toward to help individuals and families with their energy bills.

Please help us spread the word through your communication and social media messages that residents can apply for assistance by calling Atlantic City Electric at 800-642-3780 to ask about energy assistance programs as well as flexible payment arrangements that offer individually tailored payment installment plans.

Residents can also download a LIHEAP application though the Department of Community Affairs website, by contacting their local LIHEAP Agency, or by calling 1-800-510-3102.

For residential customers having difficulty paying their utility bills, there are financial assistance programs available to those who qualify.

South Jersey Gas encourages customers to take advantage of these financial assistance options, which are designed to help elderly, disabled or low-income residents. The programs are run by state, federal and non-profit organizations.

Universal Service Fund

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities created the Universal Service Fund program to help low-income households pay for electric and natural gas service. Eligible New Jersey customers pay no more than 6% of their income for their natural gas and electric service.

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps elderly, disabled and low-income New Jersey residents pay their energy bills. Payments vary depending on your income, household size, fuel type and heating region.

Lifeline Assistance Program

Lifeline is a utility assistance program that offers $225 to persons who meet the eligibility requirements of the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled program or who receive Supplemental Security Income.

Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric

The PAGE energy assistance program benefits homeowners and renters who are NJ residents; have not have received USF in the past 6 months or HEA within the last heating season, facing a crisis situation that includes a documented notice of overdue payment for gas and/or electric service, and have a past history of making regular payments towards their utility bills.
