Boards, Meetings & Minutes
Franklin Township’s boards and committees make a critical contribution through volunteers who care deeply about our past, present, and future. All meetings are open to the public, and new members may submit a letter of interest to the Municipal Clerk in November for consideration in the coming year.
Meetings are also listed on the Township Calendar.
Second Monday every other month at the Community Center at 7:00 pm
The Agricultural Advisory Committee works to preserve and promote the rich farming heritage of Franklin Township.
Second Wednesday of each month at Town Hall at 7:00 pm
This commission was formed in 2017 to improve communications between our local government and our residents. Members are responsible for putting meetings on Comcast’s Channel 9 and online, and for developing new ways to keep people informed about important issues within the township.
Economic Development Commission (EDC)
First Thursday of each month at Town Hall at 7:00 pm
This important committee seeks ways to bring appropriate businesses to Franklin Township, and to retain existing businesses. Over the past 10 years, they have been responsible for the redevelopment of abandoned buildings and the creation of new restaurants, retail shops, business offices, and more.
Fourth Monday of each month at Town Hall at 7:30 pm
NOTE: April meetings will be on the fourth Wednesday
The Franklin Township Environmental Commission keeps government and residents informed about a variety of environmental issues and concerns. They create natural resource inventories, review planning and zoning applications to determine if any conditions exist on the property (such as wetlands) could affect the development, and obtain grants to help with a variety of “green” projects.
Historical Advisory Committee
First Monday of each month at the Community Center at 7:00 pm
Franklin Township enjoys a long and interesting history. The Historical Commission collects photographs, talks with “old timers” to capture their stories, and shares what they learn with residents at various community events. Volunteers also greet visitors at the Historical Center at the Community Center on Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Third Wednesday of each month at the Community Center at 7:00 pm
Board members review policies, the newest technologies, approve the budget, host the book sale with Friends of the Library, discuss upcoming library events, and host the annual school supply drive.
Second Tuesday of each month at the Community Center at 6:00 pm
This vital organization reaches out to the community to address the growing problem with alcoholism and addiction through identification, education and prevention.
Third Tuesday of each month at Town Hall at 7:00 pm
One of the primary duties of the planning board is to create and update the Franklin Township Master Plan. This is a comprehensive guide for the way we use land throughout the township. In addition, the board is responsible for land use/zoning ordinances, reviewing plans to subdivide property, and for creating the official township map.
First Tuesday of each month at the Community Center at 8:00 pm
This group of volunteers has oversight for township sports leagues for our children, and also manages special events such as Community Day, the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas at the Center.
First Tuesday of each month at Town Hall at 7:00 pm
The Zoning Board balances the demands of the master plan and land use ordinances with the needs of property owners. Board members hear requests from landowners for variances when building, renovation or addition projects are not permitted by current ordinances.
